About Us
Our History
Sensevents is a Division of Shorton Printers Ltd which started its operations in 1996. The company was founded by Kevin McMahon – an IT specialist working in Australia and the UK, and Michael Houlihan – a magazine publisher with great selling titles. Both Kevin and Michael realised their blended skills in IT and publishing would be an ideal fit in this exciting new world.
Initially the company provided training events for NHS employees and other public sector professionals. By 2005, we were working with a range of private sector businesses and by 2014 most of our clients were in the private sector. In 2018, we produced our first webcast for Managing Cultural Differences at Work. This was a highly successful event held in London with some delegates attending in person and other delegates attending online from various parts of the UK.

Our events have taken place in over 96 locations from Aberdeen to Exeter. We focus on Business Skills, Health and Social Care and Health and Safety. Training is online and/or face to face and delegates can choose from over 100 courses tailored to developmental needs in today's highly competitive workplace.
Many of the courses we offer are approved by RoSPA, IATP, CPD, IIRSM, IFE, Laser, ILM & ETA or rather than and this means that you can be sure that these training events have been independently assessed for their relevance and quality adding real value to your CPD activity log. The Third Wave of Work
Sensevents is a division of Shorton Printers Ltd t/as Health Courses & Careers Update. Founded in 1996, Shorton Printers Limited t/as Health Courses & Careers Update has trained over 15,000 UK based managers and sales professionals.
Recent events around the world have highlighted what is important to many people. At Health Courses & Careers Update we strongly feel that this is the right time to change our name so that it reflects our evolution over 24 years in business. Sensevents aims to reflect and herald the latest Third Wave approaches to work seen in the most innovative workplaces.
What do we mean by the Third Wave?
The 19th Century Industrial Revolution was the First wave, the 20th Century was the Second wave and the 21st Century is the Third Wave of work. The Third Wave honours the potential of all human beings with an understanding that what separates our species from the rest of the animal kingdom is our ability to communicate compassionately with each other both consciously and unconsciously.
Clearly work cannot always be fun and it is usually the case that toil and hard graft are also necessary. That being said, many highly effective organisations of all sizes now adhere to the Third Wave simply because it works better resulting in long term sustainability.
Why do Third Wave working practices work better?
The Third Wave of working produces better results long term because a magic ingredient is added; COMPASSION.
